So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness
Our youth are involved in everything from the study of God’s word to retreats to paintball to mission projects. We are more than just a group who gathers to go bowling and eat pizza! Holy Shepherd’s Youth group is centered in fellowship, worship, and education. We offer activities designed to foster healthy group dynamics, challenge one’s understanding of faith as our identity and vocation, and provide opportunities for spiritual growth and reflection in a relaxed, fun, and welcoming environment. We also believe that God created us to enjoy our work, laugh and play. This is reflected in activities like movie nights, volleyball, barbeques, service events, and mission trips.
Our goal is that each young person develops a lasting bond with Christ and His Church.
The youth ministry program at Holy Shepherd Lutheran is open to anyone in grades 6-12. We meet weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00 to 7:30 pm to engage in the study of God's Word and fellowship.
Fellowship is built on interaction, and our teens love the social aspect of youth group activities ranging from outreach to social get-togethers.
The mission trip is an extraordinary growth opportunity that enables teens to be life-long servants of the Word. This year, we will be traveling to Lutheran Valley Retreat Woodland Park, Colorado for their Bethesda Community Camp. Youth will be engaged in helping the disabled as well as fixing up the camp’s buildings.
Outings and spending time together may be good for spiritual growth, but it has to have root. A Bible study keeps our teens focused on God's Word while it also provides social time together.
Confirmation is a two-year period of instruction for youth that begins in 7th grade. Confirmands study the various teachings of the Bible and have the opportunity to ask the pastor questions about the Christian faith. We go on various social outings and also do some outreach events to the community (like serve the homeless at the Union Gospel Mission). Confirmation students memorize portions of scripture as well as the catechism. It is our desire that all youth be prepared to “give an answer to everyone who asks… for a reason for the hope that is in you!” (1 Peter 3:15)
One of the greatest influences on any Christian teen comes from youth group leadership. Adults taking an active role in teens' lives, sharing experiences and guiding their path, helps a Christian teen's spiritual growth. Our Youth leaders are dedicated to instilling Christian values and growth by taking an active role in their lives.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

We raise money for our Youth Program throughout the year. For every ink cartridge we can earn up to $6.50 and for every old cell phone we can earn up to $100. Plus we keep these things out of our landfills! Fill free to talk to your businesses and ask them to donate their old products to a good cause. We have a box for donations located in Neece Hall.
